Google My Business: Site Manager Role Updates

You may have heard or received an update from Google stating that, after October 24, 2021, their Google My Business Site Manager role will no longer be available. Google sent out this notification to those who have a Site Manager role on one of their Google My Business listings. Here is what this means along with some key takeaways:

What Does This Change Mean?
If you have anyone on your team that is listed as a Site Manager on Google, they will be converted to a Manager after October 24, 2021. If you are in this situation and you have team members that are Site Managers, it is important to note that if they are converted to Managers, they will have additional access to your Business Profiles on Search, Maps, and other Google services.

What Are the Different Roles Available on Google?
There are three tiers of access to choose from.  They are: 1) the primary owner, (2) owner, and (3) the manager. There is a chart on this Google My Business Help page which outlines each role’s capabilities. The Site Manager role, which will be eliminated in October, is also listed so you can reference their previous capabilities vs. the Manager role capabilities which they will be converted to after October 24, 2021.
